Ryanair cancelled ticket (not flight) 2 days before flight - compensation?

So dd booked a ticket to fly venice to luton for 30 pounds. Fully paid for it.

8 hours later got an email saying sorry, we've sold too many tickets here's a refund for the 30 pounds. This was all 2 days before the flight, when she went back online the other cheapish budget (not Ryanair) flight was now full and she had to pay 150 to fly home with BA.

Is she entitled to compensation? I can see stuff about compensation for cancelled flights, if less than 2 weeks notice. Does this count as a cancelled flight?

If Ryanair were more organised she's have paid 40pounds with the other cheap flight

Did she get a booking confirmation with a reservation number etc?
