EMDR therapy for child fear/phobia?

Does anyone have any experience of this? Our child has a lot of anxiety around loud, sudden noise and we’d really like to help them get past it.

Not an answer as such but fear of loud noises is one of the only two fears we are born with (the other is being dropped). How old is your child?

11yrs

OK. When did it start? Was there a particular incident you're aware of?

I think that something like CBT might be more what you are looking for. I’m not a clinician but EMDR is primarily used to processing of traumatic memories to get the brain ‘unstuck’ from trauma. I think something more along the lines of CBT/exposure therapy tends to be used with phobias, but I imagine it would depend on the origin of the phobia (if it was a traumatic event that hasn’t been processed).
