Talk to me about Vinted

I don't know much about Vinted so was hoping someone could help me. My DD is trying to save up some money and has been selling a number of clothes on it, always with a very positive experience. However, she recently sold an Urban Outfitters jacket to someone for £50. The buyer has since said to Vinted that it arrived in damaged packaging and had stains on it. I washed it prior to my daughter wrapping it in tissue paper and putting it in a Jiffy bag and it certainly had no stains on it. The buyer had been refunded £50 by Vinted. When my daughter asked the buyer to send back the jacket, the buyer blocked my daughter and clearly has no intention of sensing back the jacket.
My daughter wrote to Vinted and they said they will look into it. However, I have a feeling the girl may have scammed my daughter as she knows she has no proof of how the jacket looked when she sent it out. I am gutted for my daughter and would like to know if there is anything that I can do to help her.

No idea but following as similar happened to my sister recently

wondabar · 15/11/2023 20:51

@Whattheflipflap did they block her and keep the item too?

She can't have been refunded until your daughter clicked a button saying she'd received it? The money sits with Vinted until buyer either says it's ok (then money is released to seller) OR they click 'i have an issue'. If seller accepts request to return, they click a button WHEN they receive it back. Has your daughter accidentally clicked she's received it back? If so they would have passed the £50 back to the buyer.

That is reassuring to know. I will look through it all with her tomorrow. Certainly a relief to know that the money will have hopefully not gone to the buyer yet

I've spoken to my daughter and the buyer has definitely been refunded by Vinted. Even though my daughter did not click any button to say the item has been returned. I am at a loss as to why they would have done this.

Strange.. unfortunately I think put it down to experience and when selling again check people's feedback etc. I avoid people who ask a million questions about an item because they're often the ones who'll never be happy with an item. Don't let it put her off - lots of genuine honest buyers on there!
