Why did my tv turn itself on ?

I woke up to my alarm this morning and was getting ready for work, came out of the bathroom and suddenly heard a woman's voice coming from downstairs . I stood at the top of the landing, looked down (my stairs come off of my lounge) and saw the tv was on. I have a free view box and have to use 2 remotes to turn the tv on .
I live alone.

Our Xbox randomly powers up. No ones ever near it or the controller 🤷‍♀️

Unplug the HDMI cable from it when not in use. It won't do it then.

Mine turns on in the wee small hours to do software updates. Nothing sinister.

Ugh..we have a Samsung TV that used to do that. I think it's something to do with updates.

Interestingly (sort of), when we changed provider from Talk Talk to Virgin, the random power-ups stopped completely. Perhaps the various pieces of kit couldn't communicate and the TV protested.

Glad it's not just me , it was a bit unnerving!

Mine did when the tv remote control was dying. Replaced the remote control and it stopped turning on randomly.

It'll be the new government initiative they've snuck in. Turning on your tv for you so you can absorb the subliminal toryness. The electorate shouldn't be trusted to turn on their own tvs.

😆🤣😆🤣

Our two Bush TVs did this. It's a fault. We returned our living room one twice and then asked for a refund. It used to unsettle me waking up to strange voices downstairs. We turn the second one off at the plug.

Once it starts it seems to get more frequent. Must be a software bug!
