Foxes or possibly badgers fouling in the garden

I’m looking for some advice on how to discourage foxes or possibly badgers fouling in own back garden. We live in a semi rural part of the town and I know I can’t keep them out of the garden, but I’m so fed up of having to pick up multiple piles of animal faeces on an almost daily basis. We had some battery operated cat repellent devices but water got into the battery compartment so they stopped working. I then bought some solar powered ones. We’ve only had them a month and they’re already malfunctioning (I think water has got into them) and emitting the sound and lights constantly. Plus they haven’t stopped the fouling.
Any ideas?

I believe the scent of human urine can be a deterrent to foxes - I don't know about badgers. I'm not making this up, BTW. It was mentioned in one of Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's early programmes. I guess you'll have to get comfortable with spending a penny outside!

Doesn't it have to be male human urine?

If it's badgers, you'll know because they make badger 'latrines' - they excavate a small hollow in the soil and return to defecate in the same place. Fascinating!

It's probably foxes. Or neighbourhood cats?

Interesting. I live in a house full
of boys, so that might be easy to achieve! 🤣

Also, didn’t know that about badgers. It’s usually in the same spot, but it’s always on the surface and doesn’t appear to have been dug down.
I’m certain it’s not cats.

Creotone on the fence posts is supposed to work but I knew someone who used it and it didn't work at all. The badgers came back and wrecked the garden including her chicken and duck houses.

I don't know about that @Plexie but it sounds plausible. It's a shame these wild animals have such antisocial behaviour traits when they're otherwise a joy.

Yes, I love that they’re out there enjoying the space. But I just wish they would find somewhere else for their toilet!

I once used Jeyes fluid. They never came back back not sure if it is now illegal.
