To ask about decent vegetarian mince?!

Quorn mince is now awful! What happened to it?

I was vegetarian 20 years ago and Quorn mince was great back then.

After a brief stint eating meat again I’ve returned to being veggie. No issues cooking, thinking of recipes, using lentils don’t reply on meat replacement products.

But every now and again I’d like to make spag bol with veggie mince rather than lentils. Quorn has changed! It’s now like cheap TVP! Spongey, somehow, doesn’t absorb flavours etc.

Any recommendations? TIA!

We use the meatless farm one which works well

I agree that quorn mince has changed for the worst. I can’t eat it now. Pretty much any of the other options are better! I get the meatless farms bean and find that it has a much better texture.

I had meatless farm burgers once and for me they were unpalatable because they were just like meat. I had to bin them and I almost never do that with food. Anyway, I wonder if it's the same for the mince? For some tasting like meat is a positive, but for others like me it's vomit-inducing. 🤔

wow thank you for all the tips!

we don’t have Sainsbury’s (or Asda) here but I’ll look into the others.

I make a mean lentil spag bol bit have a very lentil/pulse rich diet and sometimes fancy a change!

Haven’t tried it with seitan, another good tip!
