Does anyone have a wool duvet?

We need a new duvet (obviously this is quite a boring post!) and I am a bit overwhelmed by options. I have seen wool duvets, which I didn't know existed, but seem like a great option on lots of levels - sustainable, British, natural fibres etc etc etc

Does anyone have one? Can you recommend a brand? Are they good? Or any other recommendations for duvets gratefully received!

I have an organic wool duvet from the Woolroom. It is 2 different weights that popper together so does summer, spring / autumn and winter.

It was £500 and worth every penny.

Yes! Love them. We have a Baavet and I’ve just bought a wool duvet for my DD2 from another company (another UK one) as it was slightly cheaper. Defo worth it. I find they’re warm in the summer and super cosy in the winter.

We have a baavet wool duvet too and I love it.

Yes! We went entry level with a Fogarty one maybe a decade ago and then bought the kids the same. Would love to know if paying more makes a wool duvet even better! They are more weighty than a synthetic duvet so if you like the thought of a weighted blanket that will be fine but it is different to the fluffy cloud weightlessness of hollow fibre.

I have the non washable woolroom one and love it! We got a high tog and it was used all through the summer, it manages to keep us cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It's not very thick and it is a pain not being able to wash it. I would pay the extra for a washable one if I was buying again.
Got one for dd too and I can't get her out of bed most mornings!

IGotItFromAgnes · 14/11/2023 21:40

I have a Floks one which I love. I didn’t bother with the winter weight one as I’d probably only need it about 2 weeks of the year, but the all weather one is genuinely all weather.

mewkins · 14/11/2023 21:40

I have a baavet one but it's way too heavy for me. However I struggle with duvets generally as need different layers to take on and off.

Tereseta · 14/11/2023 21:42

Woolroom are all reduced at the moment too! Link to the one I covet!

LylaLee · 14/11/2023 21:42

I have a silk one. Does the same but is lighter.

SeriouslyStressed · 14/11/2023 21:47

I have two baavet ones, different weights and I love them!
They have a bargain bin on their website where you can get cheaper ones

Neitheronethingnortheother · 14/11/2023 21:49

I have a baavet one, it insulates so well that my hot water bottle is still lukewarm in the morning (and I probably don't need the hot water bottle but that's a comfort thing)

I also have a silk duvet in the spare room and that's much lighter but still nice and warm

shockeditellyou · 14/11/2023 21:51

I have a Baaavet and it’s great. I only have the 2 tog one - it’s the only duvet that doesn’t make me sweat the week before I’m due on.

Happyface120 · 14/11/2023 21:51

I love my baavet one so much- I miss in whenever we are away, and would save it in a fire!

UnimaginableWindBird · 14/11/2023 21:53

I have a baavet one from their seconds bargain bin. It's a winter weight one and I love it, but it's too hot for DH in the warmer months so we have to go back to a synthetic one which I don't like.

SirChenjins · 14/11/2023 21:54

I’ve got a Woolroom one for my perimenopausal nights - absolutely brilliant.

bombastix · 14/11/2023 21:55

Yes and it's a game changer.

No more feathers.

Try woolroom.com

olympicsrock · 14/11/2023 21:56

I have one from woolroom . Very light weight, cool in summer warm in winter . Smells wooly when brand new but then settled. We love it!

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 14/11/2023 21:57

I have an inexpensive one from Next in a guest room. I tried it once and didn't like it. It seemed heavy and a bit stiff.

itsmeafterall · 14/11/2023 22:05

Yes. An alpaca one from Devon duvets. It's lovely and light but warm and makes that nice crunchy crisp sound when it moves. 😬😊

EducatingArti · 14/11/2023 22:07

I have a DIY version. I got an old fashioned vintage wool blanket from eBay. It washes fine in my washing machine. It was already the size of a double duvet ( had maybe been cut a bit previously) and I just put that in a duvet cover. I think it is a bit more tricky to put in a cover than a feather/down one.
My issue is that I get very hot at night and just seat in normal duvets. This seems to regulate my temperature much better. I go even more lightweight in the summer though.
I also put an old vintage blanket underneath my bottom sheet ( my mum used to do this with blankets as a mattress protector in the 1960s) and again I think it helps with temperature regulation.

The only thing you need to watch with old blankets is that they can tend to shed a bit but inside a cover or under a sheet that really doesn't matter!

BunnyNumNum · 14/11/2023 22:11

I have a Baavet and adore it. It is the only thing I can stand with my night sweats

YewandOak · 14/11/2023 22:14

I have a woolroom one. Love it,it's so toasty and warm but cool in the summer. Not heavy either nor too light,it wraps round me really nice.Never slept so well. I have wool pillows too.
This is the one I have.
