What's John Lewis like for returning electrical items?

I've purchased an air fryer with a pressure cooker function. Pressure cooker function lets out steam. I just want to return the item and not get another - because I'm pregnant and assume if the new one has issues I won't be able to return in time.

It's also a beast to carry and I'm 38 weeks pregnant.

I've also used the air fryer function so it's greasy at the top grill. The air fryer company say it's a fault.

Is it a straight return, they don't open the box etc? I don't have the energy to deal with people and can get there 15 mins before opening.

I'm honestly in such an "annoyed" mood at everyone that I don't want to drive or be in contact with anyone more than I need to lol.

How long ago did you buy it? And how (online, in store)? Do you have the receipt?

I'd definitely expect them to open the box, otherwise you could be returning a box of bricks for all they know. I certainly would expect to clean it before returning, not with grease on it.

It's not an option to clean the grill part as it's ingrained and you can't take of the grill etc. but if a pain. But it's used, that's the point. Outside and trays are clean.

Providing it's faulty I believe you're entitled to return with 30 days.

Are you saying the item is faulty or is it just that you don't like it? I was manager of JL small electricals for years and they will want to inspect the box to ensure its all there.

Faulty. Pressure cooker lid doesn't hold in water and lets out steam from the sides.... burning risk etc. called Ninja and did a video call, they said faulty.

I'm just really tired from pregnancy and need to return.... but also very tired....
