I am so stupid.

cooking with DD, just bolognese and realised we didn’t have any onions. I remembered I had onion powder in the cupboard so put that in… an awful lot of it. Then DD apparently added more.

Except it wasn’t onion powder, it was onion salt 🫣😂

it tastes horrific. It’s so salty. Can I fix this or is it time to order a pizza?

In my defence it’s been a really long day 😅

Get a pizza.

This is my kind of making memories! Grin

Add more water and a
raw pealed potato. Simmer and the potato will absorb the excess salt .

Get a pizza. Then if you need to try and rescue the bolognese, add some slices of raw potato, cook it for a bit, then remove them. It may or may not work. It pulls some of the liquid out, which can reduce the salt sometimes.

Sliced raw potato will work quicker . Good luck x

Get that pizza ordered.
some things are just not worth the hassle of trying to fix. For me, this would be one of them! I also don’t think it would even be very nice if you did mange to reduce the salty flavour.

Pizza.
You can't undo the salt, the only thing you can do is dilute it by upping the quantity of all the other ingredients. So unless you have ingredients to make 10 gallons just quit.

sprigatito · 13/11/2023 19:30

Definitely raw potato and some more passata

justalittlesnoel · 13/11/2023 19:34

Get a pizza!! I tried to rescue a bolognaise once and now it's a family joke. Should have got pizza 😂

googledidnthelp · 13/11/2023 19:39

If you've got more tinned Tomatoes or Passata to add you can always add a bit of vinegar to take the sweetness away and it might dilute. But only you know how salty it is
