Does anyone have a secondary school age child in the UK who is involved in this please? It sounds right up 15yo DS’ street, he’s in y11. I just wonder whether at the moment it’s for university age students.

No, not for university age students at all. It is a huge deal in DD’s school! Students are able to sign up from Y7 right the way to Sixth Form. They are very lucky to have incredibly dedicated teachers to make it all happen and their delegation have been very successful in multiple conferences, often travelling abroad to participate.

It is a fabulous thing to have on his CV and gives invaluable skills for life. Most of the kids that do it tend to be interested in going into law or politics but it’s a great thing for anyone to be involved in.

I was involved in this at my old school, it really is fantastic. They don’t have it at my current school- if I had the time and capacity I would start it up but I just don’t at the moment 😞

DS is interested in doing Politics at A level at his independent school sixth form, so I’ve just emailed his form tutor to ask if it is an option. DS struggles with confidence so isn’t the type to start a group without the support of others. I think it would be great though, so it’s encouraging to hear positive secondary school experiences, thank you.
