Im a technophobe and would like to download or buy a game to dip in and out of during a long flight and when abroad with no internet.

This would be for android not apple devices.

Does anyone have any recommendations? ,,,everything I look at on the play store seems to need wifi and have in game purchases.

Also films / TV. I know how to download from the iplayer and BBC sounds but dont know any other sites to look at. We do have amazon prime at home... can I download from there onto a tablet?

Thanks in advance.

Try looking at mobile versions of board games - settlers of catan and carcassonne are the ones I play. You play against the computer so it doesn't matter if it's for 4 players and you're only 1 person. You might be able to get versions of monopoly, trivial pursuit, who wants to be a millionaire etc as well.

And yes if you download the Prime Video app you should be able to download content to watch offline too. Disney + as well.

@reabies thank you... I will have a look at the ones you have mentioned.

Some in-flight entertainment systems have games on them so maybe check that out and see what's on there so you don't get the same ones.

Battleheart is good and played offline, its free on android. Its a little battling game where you get your tiny adventurers to defeat monster enemies and get stronger.

Simon Tathams Puzzles is great. Loads of different puzzle games, can adjust the difficulty, no internet needed.

Drop the number. It plays ads but it works offline and no ads. Bonus!

I love hue is a nice one too.

Mini metros/mini motorways is engaging if you don't mind paying for a game.

Also Google podcasts app lets you download podcasts to listen offline.

There was a lovely little one about a Japanese café that I enjoyed. I'll try to find the name.

The artifex mundi hidden object games are good for passing the time too. They’re not free but each story takes about 4 hours to complete

Pashazade · 13/11/2023 20:41

Sorry OP I meant watchable stuff not games! 😳
Although I forgot to add The Room of which there are 4 different puzzle games all excellent.
