Cat score of 98

Is this terrible? My wee son has just received this score on his cat test and I'm worried that's he's doing so badly !

What's your experience in cat test?

Isn't average ability between 89 and 111 which the majority of children fall into. Sounds like he's doing just fine.

100 is the absolute middle of the range.
90-110 is considered average ability.
Sounds like your child is doing exactly what is expected at this point of their schooling.

Your post is a bit dramatic.

Is he happy? Is he coping OK with school? Does he have friends?

As others have said - he is achieving in line with expectations which is absolutely fine. Surely your school issued some guidance when they gave out the scores.
