Is it cheating if....

When I pack a completed jigsaw away, I bag up the edges separately, to make doing it again next time a little quicker?

Yes

Got2getout · 12/11/2023 21:53

Yes

Hummusanddipdip · 12/11/2023 21:55

Yes, half the fun of doing a jigsaw is finding all the edges and completing the frame... unless you're dh and just crack on with making loads of little sections and hoping you can connect them 🫣

Absolutely.

fifteenfifty · 12/11/2023 22:07

Oh I think this is a good idea!

steppemum · 12/11/2023 22:14

yep cheating.
On the same note if you open a puzzle and there are sections still together from the last perosn who did it, you have to take them all apart before you start

LakeTiticaca · 12/11/2023 22:32

Yes it is!!
Hang your head in shame 😉

NuffSaidSam · 12/11/2023 22:35

No, it's an excellent approach.

I do the same.

I once bought a puzzle from a charity shop that came like this, it was the best! Maybe it was yours OP. Or someone with a similar level of ingenuity.

I bought a jigsaw from Vinted and when I opened it the edges were all in a packet. I was both horrified and impressed. I kept the edges out but I do feel like I have cheated. It makes me feel uneasy thinking about the fact I haven't completed the whole jigsaw process.

FourStringsNoWaiting · 12/11/2023 22:40

Sorry OP that's just not cricket 😁

Haggisfish3 · 12/11/2023 22:41

No, it’s the obvious and right thing to do!

SecondUsername4me · 12/11/2023 23:09

I also have a jigsaw I love to do annually, and I'd say about an eight of the whole jigsaw is complete blank white space. So I'm at the point now where I consider the jigsaw done if all I have left are the white spaces.

I only do that with this one jigsaw (all the rest have something on every single piece) and only because I've already done it in full many many times.

Do you donate a lot of jigsaws to my local charity shops op? I keep coming across this 😁
It actually doesn’t help me at all. I tend to start from the top, all the sky first, then the next bit, and so on. Means I’m never leaning right over and stops me getting a sore back. I never start with the whole frame.

Hiddendoor · 13/11/2023 09:34

If you have to ask, you know it's cheating.

aswarmofmidges · 13/11/2023 09:41

It's a jigsaw puzzle for your own enjoyment- do it how you like
