I'm exhausted..3rd week of covid. . Slept a lot last week. Can't sleep thid week. Came to bed as nodding off on sofa, can barely keep eyes open.. as soon as I lay down it starts - can't get a full breath through nose, feel like I'm.suffocating. trued multiple pillows, propping up on sofa, no avail. I feel like I'm going mad

Have you tried Night Nurse liquid? Always a treat when illin with such things. Sleep guaranteed.

QuestionableMouse · 12/11/2023 01:17

If it's that bad, you need to speak to a doctor. Give 111 a ring for advice. Do you have a pulse ox?

QuestionableMouse · 12/11/2023 01:19

Please don't take anything if you're struggling to breathe while lying down. You really need a proper check up and real medical advice.

Bemyclementine · 12/11/2023 01:26

I saw the GP Tuesday

Managed to get to sleep propped up on the sofa sometime after 5.30. Ds came down around 7 and woke me up.

No blocked nose but feels like I'm not getting enough breath in, then my body does that jump/big intake of breath and it wakes me up.

Your poor thing. I'm in the first week of covid and it's been awful. Not sleeping. I'd see a doctor if I was you. Maybe you have a lot of inflammation in your lungs.

ssd · 12/11/2023 09:42

Phone 111 you need your oxygen levels checked. Dont piss about with this stuff.

Bemyclementine · 12/11/2023 11:37

Saw a Dr Tuesday and Friday. Oxygen fine, temp fine, heart rate a little high, BP high (medicated) chest apparently clear. I has blood tests friday.

So... you have terrible anxiety?

Devilsmommy · 12/11/2023 12:05

Are your sinuses swollen shut and that's why you can't breathe lying down?

Bemyclementine · 12/11/2023 13:40

I can breathe through my nose, but it feels shallow, i feel like my lungs can't expand enough for a full breath, if that makes sense. I'm falling asleep for seconds/minutes, then waking up with a gasp/snore. It's not the usual bunged up, can't breathe feeling

@lljkk I do have anxiety but I'm sure that's not causing this problem.

OP posts:
SallyWD · 12/11/2023 15:07

What did the doctor say was causing it?

WtP · 12/11/2023 15:25

Sounds like a form of Sleep apnea, I developed central sleep apnea as my thyroid got overtreated at the start of the year.
I could feel myself stop breathing in that moment you go to sleep, it was a terrifying time and something I only got through by sleeping in a recliner chair for a while till my thyroid returned to normal.
Night time is also awful for anxiety as everything just seems to close in and you have time to get worried.

Bemyclementine · 12/11/2023 16:54

@WtP my thyroid level were checked with my blood test Friday so I should have the results tomorrow hopefully. You have described exactly how I felt, and yes, when it's me alone (apart from DC) in the middle of the night, the anxiety certainly doesn't help.

The Dr didn't really listen tbh, about not sleeping. I think they thought the usual "can't sleep due to cold symptons"
