Is Sainsbury's chicken breasts getting tougher or is it my imagination?

It feels very chewy over the last 6 months especially the bigger 1.6 kg packs where the breasts are really large.
Have they changed supplier?

Is any other supermarket better?
I might give Waitrose a go even though it's slightly more expensive £7.30 a kg Vs £6.49 a kg at Sainsbury's.

I've had problems for years with Sainsbury's chicken breasts, they feel kind of rubbery? Every time I got rubbery ones in the packet I'd complain about them and get a refund.

Tesco ones have been less problematic, although I've had the odd rubbery one. I tend to buy boneless thighs these days.

How do you complain? Do you just email them?

My DH usually buys the corn fed chicken breasts from Sainsburys and he had this a couple of months ago. He bought the more expensive slow grown chicken breast after that but didn't like it either. I don't eat chicken myself but noticed the corn fed chicken breasts are getting larger too.

Yes! We had this last week with Sainsbury's chicken - the texture was completely wrong, almost gristle-like, although it looked fine. Very very off-putting and made me more determined to find a farm shop around here where I can stock up with chicken I know will be good quality.

If you have a local farm shop which rears its own or gets their meat from a local supplier, it's loads better, the animals have a proper quality of life and round here, it's about the same price as M&S. Not everyone lives near one but it's worth googling to see if there's one near you.
