Walthamstow Wetlands

Wetland Centre is a bit of a hike from the station, get the no 33 bus. IIRC the stop's just outside.

Hampstead Heath? Overland train or tube directly into Hampstead

Was going to say Walthamstow wetlands or if you are happy to travel a bit further out Rainham Marshes.

If you want to go a bit further afield, both the Marylebone Birdwatching Society and the Central London Group of the RSPB organise day long coach trips to various reserves.

Gunpowder Park is famous for birdwatching.
