Dull post alert

Just done a shop with Sainsbury’s and they've substituted one item. I'm used to Tesco where you pay the cheaper price, is this not the case with Sainsbury's?

(Told you it was dull 🤣)

Just opened the e receipt and they give a voucher in difference- answered my own question 🤦🏼‍♀️

When you do your next shop the voucher will be in the coupons section on the payment page.

Glad it's sorted. Sorry to hijack this. Started doing on line again. So yesterday ordered barbacue taco set for teenager but out of stock. Offered me spicy wrap set instead which I didn't want. I had ordered mince for this taco set. Was thinking don't need it this week as plenty of precooked mince stuff in the freezer. Kept it and will get tacos somewhere else. Question is you can't give stuff back can you if decide don't want it because things to go with it not in stock? Suppose everyone would do it ie. If change mind or decided want some money back.

I think you can.
I know with Tesco when they upped the minimum delivery amount the driver said just put a bottle of wine on the order and then give it back when it's delivered. I never tried it though!!

I think you'd be justified!

With Sainsbury's you can give anything back regardless of reason. I'm often guilty of making last minute late-night changes to to my order and not checking properly and ending up with the wrong thing or 3 of the thing I did want, instead of one. Never had a problem handing stuff back.

treacledan71 · 11/11/2023 09:09

Ahh thank you. Might ask the driver next time. Asda. Sainsburys a bit of a rip really isn't it. Means you have to shop again with them and dont get money back to purchase something else. Obviously that can take a few days.

treacledan71 · 11/11/2023 09:12

Actually ignore me its not a refund is it you mean price difference.

PlanBea · 11/11/2023 09:15

Anything returned with Sainsbury's you get a cash refund - I usually get a morning slot and have the money back by early afternoon. You can hand anything back for any reason - I've also handed stuff back and been told to keep the item but it'll get refunded anyway (one was a leaking bottle of fabric conditioner, I just decanted it into the old bottle 👍)
If you keep a more expensive substitution you get a voucher but it takes a few days and I think can only be used online?
It's annoying when you order, say 1kg mince and they sub for 500g. It's cheaper so no voucher, but more expensive per g and not enough for my meals!

I know what you mean, it makes you feel you have to shop there again if you keep the substitution.

I don't know how long I'll stick with them I'm just trying some different stores! I had a Tesco delivery saver last year (it was amazing value as I spent £28 of vouchers to get it) but now it is pound for pound in vouchers

Ooh that is annoying as Tesco would give you two packs of mince!

May depend on your picker there as I've had 2 x 4pts of milk instead of 1x 6pts from Sainsbury's on a couple of occasions, but Tescos only gave 1x 4pts, and I even had one packet of crisps instead of a multipacket of 6, which I was unimpressed by.

tiredandolderthanithought · 11/11/2023 12:46

@MargaretThursday I had Morrisons for a while and had ordered 24 bread rolls- they substituted with one 4 pack of rolls 🤣🤣🤣. Not useful for my bbq!

Lol that's madness re the bread. They told me once no milk. Not even a 2 pint or different sort.
