Are they worth it? This is a big treat for us due to the cost of living And honestly cannot afford to get burned. All the trust pilot reviews are dreadful. Please share your feedback before we spend 2K on it. Thanks.

Different models are probably, well, different.

But we've had ours for a few months now. Ds loves Sony and was sceptical but it's been really good. The only thing that's a bit of a pain is that the remote has a rolling ball mouse type of thing that can mean we accidentally change channel/exit streaming and, at least, takes some getting used to. You can get LG remotes from amazon for eg that don't have the rolling ball thing as a back up.

Also ours was 55 inches and more like £1k - we did an insurance trade in thing.

Thanks for your reply. Hopefully some more reviews on here. We currently have a very old Sony too. It must be 20 years or more old and going strong but so old there's no fancy features just your bog standard tv but seemingly indestructible!

My lg is great, my mums had one for years and it's still going strong.

FoodieToo · 10/11/2023 21:43

Have a 65 inch and it's superb !

Ratfinkstinkypink · 10/11/2023 21:47

Used to have an LG, it was great. Now have a JVC and it is the biggest crock of shit going, never again I can't wait for it to go wrong so I can justify getting a new TV.

It sounds like you're after a specific LG TV? We have two of the smaller ones (our biggest is 43 inches, bought in 2020) but the smaller one (bought in 2013 and still works fine) is in the garage out of the way until we have a bigger house again.

The thing I really hate about our TV is we are now on our second replacement remote control for the one in the living room, all LG TVs seem to have the same remote with the same problem which is that eventually the "OK" button stops working and our current remote is struggling so now we have to buy another replacement remote. So budget to replace those every 18 months to 2 years.

The TV itself is pretty good, but we have to retune it often although I think that might be the arial, I'm not sure? We also couldn't tune it to get any Irish channels when we lived in Ireland so we had to make do with the British ones.

They are lightweight and fairly easy to wall mount though so that's a good point.

Our LG TV is around 12 years old and has survived 2 young children in that time, and shows no signs of dying yet. No complaints.

We've had an LG 32" for about 6 years now.

There was an issue with the backlight that we had fixed under warranty (just within the 5yr JL warranty period by a matter of weeks), and with the model we have there was an issue with the wifi which is very easy to fix (I wonder how many were replaced for this when it's a <5 minute job that anyone can do). Nice TV.

Our is about 7 years old. DP is concerned the memory on it isn't up to much. We only have an LG TV because he first bought a Sony which was far too big for the room and I hated it!

TheIsleOfTheLost · 10/11/2023 22:11

Very happy with mine. It was under £400 though, so sounds like yours is bigger and more features.

orangesandapples001 · 10/11/2023 22:48

Thank you guys this is encouraging. I think it's an OLED G3 Evo we are looking to get. We have a really REALLY old Sony that's indestructible! Honestly my dad gave me it so long ago that it must be 20 years old or something hahaha!
I have heard that the remote is a bit rubbish yes, and read about black lines appearing which is of concern. Generally people say the customer service is dreadful and that LGs are unreliable. But comments here are on the whole positive. I may need to ask someone about their WIFI fix here though! Thanks
