Could scream the house down

Every window is closed they keep bringing mice into our new house

Somehow they got one. In
It was huge
My daughter had her bottle beside her bed
Went to take a drink out of it this morning and the mouse had chewed the teet
She drank from the bottle

I'm majorly panicking now
She seems fine
Monitored her all day
Good appetite

But wtaf

Took us hours to catch the mouse

She drank a small amount and came to me to say it was broke

This is when I discovered the mouse had done it

Sure it was a mouse and she had not chewed it? If she's still ok now I doubt it will cause a problem.

Do cats have collars with a bell? That can help stop them from catching things as they can hear the bell

Not heard this before

I had this issue over the summer. What I did:

collar with bell
Humane traps down all the time to catch any she did bring
kept cat in at night (cats tend to be most active at dawn and dusk, and it was dawn she’d wake me squeaking she had caught another one)

only had to keep her in a few weeks to break the habit. She’s now lost
the collar and goes out at night but we haven’t had a mouse for months. If she starts again I’ll repeat the above!

Are you sure it's the cats bringing them in? This is the time of year mice will come in of their own accord.

I’ve seen cat flaps advertised that have some kind of camera or something in them that monitors whether or not the cat has any prey in its mouth, and locks the flap so they can’t bring it in.

My thinking was to keep them out of main house and put beds in large utility room and shed

Your daughter will be fine. My nephew ate a dead mouse and was right as rain if it makes you feel any better.

There are probably lots of mice locally as the house is presumably what was previously disused land with lots of wildlife.
