A notepad for organising

I feel like I am drowning in lack of organisation and my life is total chaos. I have three small children and I just can't keep on top of everything.

Can anyone recommend a notebook to help me organise myself and the family?

What worked for you to feel like you had things sorted?

A calendar is my saviour!
I get one with a column for everyone and use it religiously.

I go through it at the start of the year. (I use last years calendar as a reminder of the dates) and mark down everyone's birthdays.
I check on school paperwork or the council website and mark on school hols.

Any appointments then go on.

It hangs in a prominent position where everyone can see it. I check it as I'm passing during the day.

If anything is happening...school concert, play dates, car mot, deadlines...whatever, it goes on the calendar.

Something like this.

You can also buy cool little post it note type things with weekly planners on them. You could use one of those, or a diary.
