Do you open your post daily?

Another thread got me thinking about this. I open post maybe once or twice a month. I have a letter rack in the hall and just chuck it in there when it arrives. Then just sit down at some point and check through it all at once.

Obviously if I'm waiting for something important like let's say a job offer, I would keep a more careful eye on it but otherwise not.

I'm in my 50s and I'd say I haven't missed anything important in at least 20 years so I don't see a reason to change it but just wondered if I'm unusual in that.

When I was skint I used to avoid opening as I knew a letter was bad news. Not opening only made it worse. Now I open straight away then it’s either shred, recycle, action. It does feel good to be on top of it tbh.

You can usually tell from the envelope whether it’s junk or something more interesting. I usually deal with it all straight away but, if I’m busy, I might put the junk to one side for a day or so. I’ll always open something unidentifiable from the envelope.

I open the post the day it arrives. Don't always deal with it the same day but I definitely read it. That way if idiot DH throws it away I do have a vague recollection of whether it was important and who from.

DH has your system (kind of). He opens his twice a year and dumps it down the side of his armchair. I used to clear his junk mail out but not now...although it is starting to look like a fire hazard 🤔

Edit. Tbf we usually only get post twice a week as most is online, plus I signed up to the junk mail service.

The post is so bad round here that it takes about 10 days to even get to our house from the sender. If I waited a further 2 weeks to open it, it would be pretty out of date!

No. We have a mail box on our gate and I go and get the post from it when I remember or when I see something sticking out. We never get anything very important, it's mostly all for the people who lived here before us who are now deceased.

Sorry, I should have specified. I don't mean I get post every day. Just that when I do, I don't usually immediately open it.

Out post now arrives twice a week. So unfortunately l can’t open it daily.
