Desperately need ideas that aren’t to do with gaming or anything screen based or craft based. Budget is £50 or under. They’re not into toys so much now . Used to love lego and construction but not so much any more. I’m so stuck for ideas. All suggestions appreciated

Bean bag?

Curlewwoohoo · 09/11/2023 20:23

My daughter just turned 9 would like a camera. More of a proper one than the vtech one she's got that's designed for kids. I haven't looked into it yet to see what's out there!

Board games or card games
Books - dog man or 13-storey treehouse series
An experience like feed the meerkats at the zoo or whatever they’re into

Bean bag?

I got Dd a beanbag for her 9th birthday just gone. They are surprisingly expensive!

KatyN · 09/11/2023 20:26

Mine wants a shopping trip. I think grandma is giving her £50 and carrying her bags!

Also room stuff, new clock/duvet/curtains.

She has a beanbag and that is a great success

Magazine subscription?

Ninjaline/Slackline
Board/card games - most of the Gamewright games are good for that age
Dojo battle game (foam swords)
Rubik's race
Adopt-an-animal (local zoo?)
Annual pass to local attraction
Voucher for favourite chain restaurant
Oodie or similar
Books - if you give me vague interests I can suggest an author/set
Personalised wallet or pencil case
Lava lamp
Head torch
New school bag
Swingball set
Set of bean bags/juggling balls
Jazzminton (try Amazon)
Subscription to magazine
Cheap MP3 player

Gravitrax
Board games- monopoly, trivial pursuit family, cluedo, game of life
3d pen
Hot wires
Science kit
The dojo battle thing mentioned above is good.
Nerf guns (mine are mad on these)
Remote control car

curlewwoohoo. A camera sounds great. The one that comes out best is above my budget - fujifilm instax mini. The dupe ones on Amazon which I can afford, get not great reviews. Anyone got recommendations for an alternative?

Some great ideas here that I'll be adding to the list!

Some other ideas:
Guinness book of records
Spirograph
Cricket set
Digital radio ( maybe too niche - my 8 yr old loves listening to the football on talk sport / 5live 😂)

Equimum · 10/11/2023 17:43

Lego and science sets are pretty much all that's been put in the list here this year. My older son asked for games at that age - Catan and Exploding Kittens, I think.
