Parents block me

Hi why does my dad block me after I hang up on him because he’s calling me a piece of “s*” for not being more active in stopping my mothers continuous overdose from sleeping pills she buys online
he also expects me to visit her a lot they’re 15 min away but she smokes and she shouts a lot /emotionally volatile and I don’t want to expose kids to it as we never know when she’ll explode.

he has been emotionally abusive to me my whole life always comparing me to his friends kids and calling my mum names.

He was raised among 8 siblings in iraq and I’m trying to understand why he’s like this

hes stressed looking after her he’s 69 she’s 55 and she’s clinically depressed.

Personally I would block them both.
You dont deserve/need this.
Your kids dont deserve/ need this.
You wouldnt accept this from anybody else....you dont need to accept this from them, just because they are your parents .. that is just an accident of birth.

It’s about control. Leave him to it and keep your DC away. You are right in believing the children should not be exposed to abuse. Put them first.

I saw them 10 days ago we cooked a meal and took it to them.
yet few days after that he blames me for not being there enough and my mum wouldn’t take her additive pills if her children were around her more.

my mum has no hobbies or friends or job and she criticises other grandmas who look after the grandkids saying they raised their kids why are they looking after their grandkids

You are not responsible for their happiness, hobbies or health.

Block them. Life is too short.
