Does anyone else think this dynamic is odd?

I have a friend and she starts every sentence with ‘-DP name- says I can go, -DP name- says we can have a baby after I get a promotion, DP has been so kind to me while I have been poorly even though he has felt sick himself.

Theyve only been together less than a year and it seems as if she needs his approval before doing things. I get the vibe he calls the shots? I can’t imagine that kind of set up. I’ve met the fella once and not for very long, just fleeting

I do as I please and never ask permission, nor does DH and we’d both think it weird if the other were to.

Feel concerned for her but am I reading too much into it?

Probably just mentionitis.
But keep an eye in case it turns into anything more worrying.

Was she single for a long time before she met her current boyfriend? I think calling someone your DP after only a year is weird anyway ?

No she came out of a different relationship maybe in the spring of last year. So only several months in between the two

I’d be a bit concerned by her language. Is she generally a very submissive person or just talks like this about him? Hope all is OK for her.

I'd struggle not to say, "so does he tell you when you can take a piss as well, because he seems to tell you when you're allowed to do everything else!"
But that may be a bit blunt. 😁

I'd agree with this if in that year you'd both only had two dates - one at a bar and the second when he called you at midnight asking if you fancy some fun.
