Please recommend me smellies to make my home smell like Christmas.

I'll be buying a bag of scented pine cones from our local market which smell divine but don't tend to last very long.

Do you have any recommendations for Christmas flavoured plug-ins or reed diffusers and the like that'll help my house smell Christmas-sy?

I'm happy to pay ££ but not tonnes.

I've tried M&S ones before and haven't found them to be very effective. Do AirWick do Christmas flavours - they always seem to last ages and smell strong?

I really dislike the synthetic Christmas fragrances of plug-ins etc. Especially the ones that smell sickly sweet like Christmas cake. I’m also not convinced that they are great for our health.

As an alternative, I love burning incense and there are some gorgeous winter-smelling ones, like frankincense. I also really like an oil diffuser with a orangey scent. Tisseeand does a lovely winter scent. My ultimate treat is a Diptyque Feu de Bois candle which scents the whole room subtly, even when not burning.

The only one for me is Winter by White Company. I’m just obsessed. It’s so lovely.

This. It's probably the nicest thing I've ever smelt. Haven't got mine yet - will start off a reed diffuser when we put the tree up.

Agree with white company suggestions. They have a few xmas scents so have a smell in-store if you can.

Amazon have these oils.
Not sure how effective they are.

Haven't looked for festive scents but I find the Reed diffusers from Next to be really good.

The Old Solstice by Chapter Organics. It lasts for ages and you don’t need to use all the sticks. I’ve got the candle one from last year which is amazing, too.

All the scents from this company are lovely and really long lasting. The best thing is none of them give me a headache which most candles etc do.

Orange peel on the radiators

I'm currently experimenting with St Eval Winter Thyme candles and I'm very impressed so far. Slightly spicy scent with Autumnal overtones. But, the best will always be Winter by the White Company. But family tradition states that I can't light it until December 9th.

I love Neom Christmas oils. I use them in a cheap diffuser from Amazon which was about £20. The bottle of oil is about to be on its 3rd year and I use it every day during the festive period. I don't like plug ins or scented reeds, but I find diffusing the oil nicely scents my home without it being over powering.

I like the White Company scents or Feu de Bois.

Ah, yes, I'd heard the orange peel trick but I have cast iron radiators so there's nowhere to really put the peel on them. And they stain like hell.

I cam on to say this. It's just lovely. Sells out quickly though

Aldi have a winter spice diffuser in which is a white company dupe

St Eval Inspiritus or Orange & Cinnamon. I use the candles throughout December but they also do a reed diffuser if that is more your thing. I have their Tranquility reed diffuser in the bathroom and it's lasted for absolutely ages so you would probably get several Christmases out of one of the seasonal reed diffusers if you packed it away with the decorations each year.

I did the Pottery Barn festive smell recently and it really worked and I have since adapted it with cloves and cinnamon for other smells but the PB original is the best. You just boil water with fresh thyme, lemon and sugar. It is really surprisingly effective. I saw it in one of the stores. Amazing that they recommend something not eye wateringly overpriced 😀

This for when you're cleaning, it smells gorgeous and the smell stays around.

Oh yeah, I forgot that Zoflora do the winter spice scent - will definitely get some of that
