My DS is turning 11 next week and is having a sleep over party. All good, but they want to watch a movie and I can’t find one that fits the bill. They have all watched Home Alone, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Goonies.

I would be eternally grateful for any recommendations of films your tweens love that are along similar lines. x

What streaming services do you have?

Newuser75 · 08/11/2023 21:54

Star Wars
Harry Potter
Anything marvel (they are rated 12 so maybe not every parent would be happy with this?)
Short circuit
Gremlins (12 again I think)
The kid who would be king
Yes day
Robin Hood Prince of thieves
ET

Shazam

ghostbusters · 08/11/2023 23:17

If you're happy with them watching a 12A then have a look at the Transformers films (there's 4 or 5 including Bumblebee). Or Jurassic World (there's at least 3 of them as well as Jurassic Park). The most recent Ghostbusters film is good (even I enjoyed it).
We watched and enjoyed Men In Black last week.

I like IMDB to look at film ratings, I find the parental guide useful for gauging how suitable a film is.

JaneKatSuttonGoals · 08/11/2023 23:19

I think it's a 12 but Murder Mystery was fun

EnglishGirlApproximately · 08/11/2023 23:19

Recent ghostbusters, Guardians of the Galaxy or anything with The Rock in it! Also, dungeons and dragons was a hit. The Mario movie is probably the most watched this year though

The original Italian Job

Star Wars at the moment - she even did her school art project on it!

She watched Percy Jackson for her birthday party which seemed to be the right level for her friends who are not into too scary things.

Recently watched the first Mission Impossible which they seemed to really like, but we did need to occasionally pause and explain some things.

Dungeons and Dragons

As a 50 year old mother who has been made to watch the spidermans- this film is truly wonderful.
