Hard to make out on the picture but it’s tiny and sandy brown coloured, moving about… looks like a little insect but what is it?

Stored this particular mug in the back of the cupboard for a while but nothing other than crockery goes in that cupboard and it’s a fairly new house!

Does it have insecty legs, or more larvae like?

Might be carpet beetle larvae?

Larvae like. There’s another one in another mug at the back of the cupboard. I feel so gross! The cupboard is shut, and clean. Idk how this could happen

I had this once where all mugs had them I'd reclean them and the cupboard but they'd always come back .. no idea what they were but moved house and never seen them again.. that house was also a new build so we were only ones who'd ever lived there and everything was brand new 🤔

Oh no. I don’t know how I’m ever going to have a coffee again here without feeling paranoid ha ha.

Have you had any food in the cupboard or one above it?

Nope never. Just googled and looks like something called book lice

I agree with book louse. Thought this as soon as I saw your original photo. The odd one is nothing to worry about.

You know the world isn't sterile though? Freaking out about the odd insect is not a healthy reaction.

C1N1C · 08/11/2023 21:41

Yep booklouse 100%

They're fine and harmless... tend to like flour and cardboard and slightly humid environments, so love pantries!

Loubelle70 · 08/11/2023 21:43

Could be plaster beetle. Its damp under sink area and they love damp... could be in new houses if plaster hasnt been allowed to dry properly xx

LightSpeeds · 08/11/2023 21:48

Or a flour mite...
