Has anyone got any inklings on what the impact of Covid might be on school places for Sep 25? I know it’s miles away but I was chatting with someone the other day with a same age toddler as me (2) and she thinks we might struggle to get school places due the Covid baby boom.

I suppose it’s location dependent but I thought I’d read that the supposed boom didn’t end up happening.

We live about 0.3 miles away from the school that I’d like DD to go to so I’m still hopeful but would be interesting to know what others think!

The end of 2020 and first half of 2021 showed a decline in births. The increase didn’t happen until the second half of the year. Which looking at the school year (Sep 2020 to Aug 2021) probably cancels itself out. Anecdotally a preschool near me has actually closed because of a lack 2YOs to start in Sept and replace their school leavers.
