Looking for a candle that actually smells of something!

Not talking Jo Malone type prices!

When I smell candles in the shops they smell lovely but when lit, they aren’t emitting any such smell at all!!

Any recommendations?

My daughter got a Habitat scented jar candle from Sainsburys and it's really fragrant, think she only paid about £10 for it.

Dw candles at home sense. Well worth the money.

I've had some really nice ones from Aldi tbh.

A pink dusky rose one that wasn't overpowering but smelt really nice and one in a black jar that smelt of a burning log fire! That was really nice too.

Wonky Candles are amazing! wonkycandles.co.uk It's a small business run by PJ and his family, PJ is blind, autstic and pretty fantastic at making scented candles. Even curmudgeonly DP likes them, which is quite the compliment!

I buy www.olapip.com candles. You can actually smell them when they're not lit. The fragrances are amazing

It's a business local to me but she does online sales

I used to buy the wax tarts.

Now I have kept a few of the old wax tarts that have melted and their fragrance long gone and I reuse them by adding a couple of drops of fragrance oil and it's better than just burning the oil in water as it doesn't evaporate and the smell lasts ages in the wax.

I dont rate St Eval candles at all! All frills, no knickers.

Anyway! M&S have some nice ones in at the moment for £6. I bought one with my £7 lottery win 😂

Upstate and Sundown are my favorites. I get the mini tins.

Home bargains candles are amazing and only £2.99. The winter scents all have a great throw. I'm currently burning gingerbread and it fills the whole downstairs

sarahc336 · 08/11/2023 17:48

M&S ones are good

TisTheSeasonToLebkuchen · 08/11/2023 17:52

Does it gave to be a candle? I got a Neom aroma diffuser last year and use it with neom or White Co. Oils. They pump out a lot of scent.

OceanicBoundlessness · 08/11/2023 17:53

I got one called 'balance' from m&s. There were a few different ones. I never spend a lot of money on candles and to me 6/7 is a lot but it smells lovely and has lasted ages.

TisTheSeasonToLebkuchen · 08/11/2023 17:54

Otherwise we always treat ourselves to a Winter candle from The White Co. and buy the oil to diffuse as well in my Neom.

Woodwick candles are very strong.

RoseBucket · 08/11/2023 17:59

@BaconAndAvocado i like woodwick ones and buy them from TK Maxx. They sell lots of expensive candles cheaper.

Decorhate · 08/11/2023 18:00

I also like the M&S Apothecary range, they are very reasonable. The White Comoany ones are also good though they have go quite pricy - maybe hang on for their sale.

I use this online company a lot - obviously you can’t go into a shop to smell them

I get a headache from most of them so my solution is this; a small pot of water set to simmer on the hob.

I add what I am in the mood for - cloves, cinamon and apple/clove and lemon/ lavander and xxx/ and so on. The variety is endless, can go according to mood and ratio can alter the perfume of the same three ingredients.

The house smells wonderful, it wafts though, quite stong in some rooms and a hint in others.

Sainsburys have a nice range in candles, I particularly like their Patchouli and Amber
