Anyone got a ReMarkable?

I mean one of these.

I'm terribly tempted, but I'm not sure I can justify it to myself. Has anyone got one, do you like it, do you use it much and if so for what sort of thing? Can it convert fairly terrible writing like mine into good quality documents?

Replace your notebooks and printed documents with the only tablet that feels like paper.

Yes, I have one that I use for work (think inspector type role where I have to take a lot of observation notes, meetings, casenotes etc). I find it fantastic because in the past I was always losing notes in various A4 pads and now everything is neatly filed. It has a screenlock based on a 4 digit code and I think that could be strengthened tbh.

The writing to text function is not brilliant. You have to write neatly and it tends to mess up the justification, paragraphing etc - but I think the edit function is due to be improved.

Writing on it is lovely. The battery lasts ages.
You can download things from online, like articles or pdfs, by using an app on your phone to interface - but I have to reinstall the app each time I upload a document, otherwise I end up with all my confidential client observation notes readable from my phone.

Thanks. I do do a lot of note taking for work purposes and it would be quite useful to be able to put those notes into more official records without retyping or dictating, but I'm not sure if it would work if I need to write neatly and can't use abbreviations. Hmmmm.

When it converts writing to text, can you then email that to yourself? I’m presuming so

You can email text to yourself as either in the body of an email or as a pdf, PNG and a couple of other format attachments. Not as a word doc though.

Mine is connected to Gmail drive so can download to that on WiFi without using app.

The text conversion is sometimes brilliant and other times terrible and gets the words out of order. The most annoying but I have found is that it struggles with mathematical stuff. I use fractions quite a bit and I cannot find a way to hand write a fraction that it correctly converts.
