at what point does selling stuff on ebay/vinted become more hassle than it's worth

We have had a financially difficult few years - I am in the red and xmas is coming too.

I have a large pile of stuff that I have been meaning to sell on ebay -but it takes so much time to list it all now. As a rule none of this is particularly ££ ) i have had stuff on there that hasn't shifted. I'm not sure if it's the right time - mostly good quality kids clothes (boden etc) but people don't buy second hadn't at xmas do they?

is it worth selling it? I may pop it on my local bargains facebook and see if someone would buy as a job lot if they had time.
It's literally two massive ikea bags.

EBay isn’t worth it anymore imo. I used eBay a lot before Vinted existed, I always sold my DC’s old clothes and toys on there to make some extra cash and I always got screwed over by seller fees. I remember one Christmas I felt great because I’d made about £400 selling but then I got my invoice a couple of weeks later and they wanted about £100 so 1/4 of it. There was also PayPal fees back in the day and you have to take the initial hit of paying for postage which can be a twat if you’re skint.

I love Vinted because there’s no seller fees to worry about so you keep 100% of your money and the buyer buys the postage label outright so you don’t have to worry about that. Had very few issues on Vinted as well.

I got something wrong on Vinted My ds was helping me and the coat has a repair I forgot. SO now I need to refund somehow. So annoying.

I used to sell loads on Ebay, but as PP says, the listing fees, selling fees, P&P and Paypal costs just dont make it worth it. The one good thing, is that all fees are now deducted straight away, whereas years ago, you got your full amount then a month later they sent you an invoice with all the fees to pay later.

We have loads of clothes to see, so they will go on Vinted, and anything else will go to the charity shop. I rarely found success with Facebook Marketplace either.

If you’ve got lots of Mini Boden and similar brands I would recommend trying to sell on some of the closed group facebook pages for second hand kid’s clothing. Search for mini Boden and you should find a number of groups that you can join. I’ve had more success on these types of pages and have found that you can sell for a bit more than on vinted. You lose a bit of money due to PayPal fees but not a huge amount.
