Scabby good delivery

Am I the only one who questions why anyone would want to eat food delivered out of a scabby Deliveroo / Uber eats bag. People clearly do but why?

The food doesn’t actually come in the bag. It’s in a container.

Bobtheamazinggingerdog · 07/11/2023 09:15

They are no different to any other insulated takeaway bags. The inside isn't affected by how clean the outside is. If you're worried about 'scabby' bags best not to get takeaway at all!

Fahbeep · 07/11/2023 09:17

Nah. If the bag is unclean on the outside. It's unclean on the inside.

You don’t want to know how supermarket food is delivered to stores of you are worried about deliveroo!!

I can’t see the difference between a restaurant making sushi, putting it in a container and me taking it away in a bag is any different to someone else putting it in a bag and bringing it to me. It’s the same sushi, in the same container. I don’t eat the container, so it doesn’t bother me.

Unclean! Unclean! (Sound of hand-bell being rung). Dear OP, did you know that if you order chips from Uber Eats the delivery bloke shoves them up his jumper to keep them warm, and, as for sausages, you don't want to know!

You don't eat the bag.

Happy to help 😊

Fahbeep · 07/11/2023 09:37

You guys feel strongly about this! Do you think it's hygienic or just not bothered ?

OP posts:
heldinadream · 07/11/2023 09:39

I hope you wash all your fruit and veg OP, because I've heard that some pickers go to the loo and don't wash their hands.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 07/11/2023 09:43

We had takeaway the other week and as dh took the bag off the delivery guy the paper bag split and the takeaway went all over the kitchen floor. That’s chips, kebab, chicken wings. Dh still ate it 😂

Disclaimer: he did NOT drop my pizza and if he had it would have gone in the bin. I cannot eat food off the floor. Damn my OCD 😬

Legomania · 07/11/2023 09:43

Are you the new food hygiene troll?

I think we think that you are overthinking things, and maybe have some kind of germ phobia or something like that? Or some kind of 'fussy' facet to your personality, if I can put it kindly? 😀Or you're just bored, and posting for teh lulz

Fahbeep · 07/11/2023 09:54

I suspect Trolls would happily eat Deliveroo... so I can't be one by definition.

@Manadou not really. I just think that eating from a Deliveroo bag is one step up from eating while excreting on the toilet. 😂

Now I know you are weird and just doing this for laffs. You are coming over like you are aged approx. 13 and a bit twattish with it.

Whatdidtheromanseverdoforus · 07/11/2023 09:59

Are you quite well? The food is inside a sealed container. It could be collected by a St Bernard dog and carried down the high street in its mouth and provided that said container remains sealed, the contents arrive having met no more contaminants than they had at the restaurant kitchen.
its such an odd thing to be phobic about.

Fahbeep · 07/11/2023 10:04

@Manadou it's all clearly light hearted, but thank you for revealing your inner nastiness. I'm glad I don't know you in real life.

You wouldn't get the chance.

SamBeckett · 07/11/2023 10:27

How do you know they are 'scabby' ?
Have you looked inside many ?
The outside could be dirty due to it been splashed by puddles ( particularly cycling delivery's) handled by grubby mitts, put on the floor etc the outside material is hard to wipe clean but the inside is insulated plastic and easier to clean, so could get wiped down at the end of every shift.

DNLove · 07/11/2023 10:30

This post is purely to be provocative by sounds of it and the follow up comments. I wouldn't bother even offering an opinion or justification.

Chewbecca · 07/11/2023 10:33

What exactly do you mean by 'eat it from the bag'?

Do you mean from the container which is usually in a bag, in the big deliveroo bag?

Or do some foods get placed directly into the big deliveroo bag and the deliveroo bag gets left with the customer eat from?

Chellybelle · 07/11/2023 10:41

Whenever I've had a takeaway it's been delivered in a plastic or cardboard container, then sometimes wrapped in paper, then inside a plastic bag. So the food wouldn't come into contact with the inside of the delivery bag. I can be a bit over the top about food hygiene and cleanliness but I can't imagine being this bad about it that I couldn't enjoy a takeaway. You say it's lighthearted but you seem to have taken it to heart that others aren't as bothered as you. If you don't want to order Deliveroo, don't. No one's arsed.

I get that people like it and don't have an issue with it. It's not like I'd ban it. It doesn't appeal to me as the bags always look grotty.

I did take issue with someone being nasty for no obvious reason. It's a post about fast food delivery for heaven's sake. I'd thought the unseriousness of it would be apparent.

My mistake!

Surely no one is that stupid, is this some kind of weird AI that doesn't understand that the food is inside the usual take away containers/bags inside the delivery person's bag?
