How to stop the elf this year?

Any ideas? I'm sick of it and really don't want to bother this year

My 4yo won't notice if she doesn't come back but my older two will (they don't believe anymore).

Any ideas on how to do it?!

Just put the elf out with a little book and note saying I'm hoping to be a good elf this year and not play any pranks - and just dont do them.

After a couple of days they will all have forgotten

If the older 2 don't believe and the younger won't know what is the issue with stopping?

Mercury2702 · 06/11/2023 22:32

When I couldn’t be arsed anymore I told my son Santa picks children at randomly every year to have an elf so that every one gets a turn and he was happy with that and hasn’t been bothered since. Think he was 5 when I told him that

Tell them he's needed at the North Pole because the workforce has been affected by covid and lots of elves are laid up in bed.

Just say Father F is really busy this year so Elf has been called in to help out.

Ibravedaflood · 06/11/2023 22:35

Covid got it...

RubyRubyRubyRubay · 06/11/2023 22:35

Father C even!

Highlyflavouredgravy · 06/11/2023 22:37

Just don't do it.
Don't say a word.
If they say anything say " oh how weird. Maybe it's gone somewhere else"
Then change the subject.

Creepy little fucker.

My DD is 7 so as soon as she doesn’t believe in Father Christmas, I will come clean about the elf too & say it was sent with the imaginary FC to give her a magical childhood.

Then I’ll bring out all her little letters & teeth that she sent to the tooth fairy & say I lied about that too🤣

my older two will (they don't believe anymore).

Are they old enough to be in charge of its antics for the littlest one ?

Piscesmumma1978 · 07/11/2023 11:26

Thanks everyone. Maybe I'll just not do it and hope no one notices!

It was fun for the first year 🤣

Why can't you just tell them you are not doing it? I don't understand the issue if they don't believe anymore woth just saying 'I'm not doing that for young sibling'
