Housing register -advice please

It's my first time having put myself on the housing register due to the insane rent increases in London. How many years does it take to get a place? (I have two disabled children). The website for my council says 6yrs for the band I'd be in.

just trying to mentally prepare for the long journey ahead and if by some miracle others might have gotten a home before that?

I don't need a big house and a garden, just a flat will do!

In London? Your children will be adults before you're offered a place even if you're homeless.

If I were you I'd seriously consider moving to a different place, 6 years wait in London is probably more hopeful than the reality. Sorry

@Devilsmommy is this the same for temporary accommodation?

I would think being in temp accom would speed things up a bit but you'd still have a good wait.
