Iv been having ongoing light bleeding have after having my son for months , I'm due to have a smear today and there is light bleeding.

I was planning on going ahead anyway - will they be able to do the test?

I haven't got much option as the bleeding has been ongoing (iv had it looked into)

Have you already had a colposcopy to get an explanation for your bleeding? I would make an appointment with your GP and ask to be referred for this if you haven't already. I don't think they will do the smear as they normally won't do if on a period but I'd ring and ask.

It depends how light the bleeding is I think. They can make you bleed a bit just by running the brush around, so some blood in the pot isn't necessarily going to render the sample useless.

Iv had a hysterscopy and biopsy which came back fine.

Hopefully they can still do it
