Anyone else get really gassy when you eat healthy?

I've not been eating much food a while due to health issues. I managed to get a bit of my appetite back however it consists of mainly wheat cereals, bananas, apples, nuts, raisins and digestive biscuits. I feel so bloated my stomach could explode. I'm not eating massive amounts but wondering if this is just a normal side effect of a lot of fibre

Apples can cause bloating and wind in some people. Are they sugary cereals?

KateyCuckoo · 05/11/2023 20:57

Yes and I get constipated.

The more crap I eat, the happier my bowels are!

Most likely. It's the weetabix fruit and nut minis so yes I'm guessing it has a lot of sugar in it. I think my plan is to try and make actual meals instead of going for easy cereal. Thank you so much for your reply

Yes but it subsides if I stick to it, give it a couple of weeks

Oats can be calming. Porridge or overnight oats would be good. You can mix with cocoa, banana and peanut butter. That's my DS's favourite breakfast.

Look up fodmaps. Apples, wheat, and dried fruit are all very high in fodmaps which trigger gas, bloating etc in people with IBS. It's not eating healthy food that's the problem, it's the particular healthy foods you're eating.

same for me. It feels like there is a balloon inside me going up to my throat. I also just had a couple of weeks of eating ‘healthy’ home made food. Felt ok for the first week or so then worse. It always happens. So annoying.
