Trying to reduce sugar intake

A combo of 3 small dc and years of sleep deprivation mean my sugar intake is way too high. Biscuits for breakfast and throughout the day instead of proper meals, ice cream after dinner etc. I had gestational diabetes in my last pregnancy and have the very real scare of T2 in future years.

I am not ready for hard core giving up ALL sugar, but has anyone stopped or reduced chocolate/ other sweet treats to good effect?

Any tips? Anything else I should consider removing from my diet to help me feel full of energy/ have a positive health impact? Everything I’ve read so far is too much (for now) and talks about giving up honey, fruit, ketchup etc….is that really worth it?

Any tips? Thank you!
