Best app to control kids screen time?

Im looking for an app that allows me to control how much screen time my kids get. It's always a battle to physically take their devices away, which is what I do now. But I think if they switch off after a given time, and they know they only have however long on them, that might work better?

Thanks.

What devices are you talking about? Eg phone, laptop, iPad, tablet? The solution will very much depend on that!

The Holy Grail! It depends on the devices, as far as I’ve found no single app is ‘all powerful’.

The Nintendo Switch parental controls app is great but only for the Switch.

Apple screen time is awful and easily overridden with one more minute/switching device off then on/moving from mobile data to WiFi.

The paid for tools aren’t perfect and can be expensive so I’ve given up on those. I do find our EERO useful but it’s not a solution in itself as you can’t set time limits for devices but you can switch off WiFi access.

We use family link, it's pretty good

I've heard of an app called Qustodio, is that good? I just need to stop their iPhones and iPads

Kaspersky Safe Kids is quite good. Not perfect and my teen got around it by downloading a VPN 🙄 on his android phone. But it's been decent so far. You can set an amount of hours limit usage per day, or instead just have times between which access is blocked. It's not loads, around 23 quid a year.

Are any of them free??

Just log into the router and change the password?

MrsJamin · 06/11/2023 06:15

Don't apple have their own screen time product?

looking4pup · 06/11/2023 06:23

Apple family.

looking4pup · 06/11/2023 06:24

Presuming they have an iPhone obviously.
