I ordered Chinese tonight. We had chicken curry. But the chicken has a soggy texture to it. It was really odd. I checked and it looked white did not look undercooked. But I can't work out why it was soggy and strange tasting.

Don't know how to explain this bit : it looked odd in shape as well . Just never seen it like that before but I can't explain what I mean.

Anyway why round chicken be soggy with an odd taste ?

What else could it be? Is there a racial dig there?

Gosh No! Sorry just see how that reads. A lot of meat is pumped with water and other juices to plump them up that the % meat is drastically reduced. There is a high chance this has happened! I question whether or not to call these "meat" as there are other things injected into them and use that phrase. Sorry.

Another possibility is it was previously frozen and thawed weird? Are u feeling ill?

It sounds as though it might have been reconstituted chicken - a cheaper product - sometimes made from mechanically removed meat. Bland and with a not-great texture, but harmless - it's what's used in chicken nuggets etc.

Was it banana

Lots of Chinese restaurants use corn flour to tenderise meat-most often in dishes like chicken and cashew. This often gives a softer texture...could or perhaps have been that?

They velvet the chicken in Chinese restaurants. This can change the texture . Stir fry chicken would have small chunks , definitely it would have been cooked through . Not sure why the odd taste , I guess that’s only an opinion .
