Dcat ran out the door when I got home he's very nervy and I can't find him anywhere which is unusual as he doesn't normally go far. Tried calling him but he hasn't appeared which he also unusual for him.

Wait till there is a pause and go out

Cardiganwearer · 04/11/2023 19:00

Hope he comes back soon! Would shaking a pack of dreamies do anything?

goingtohellinahandcart · 04/11/2023 19:01

He doesn't like dreamies!-strange cat

We had this last year. She was 25ft up a tree. Very stressful.

Mine is out now too. I keep calling her but no sign.
She’s a scaredy at the best of times, she’s a very nervous rescue cat.
The dog on the other hand waits at the back door to go out and isn’t bothered in the slightest by the bangs!
I feel sorry for all the wild animals in absolute terror too. I hate that fireworks are bought so easily.

goingtohellinahandcart · 04/11/2023 19:22

Still no sign, this really isn't like him

Hope he comes home really soon! They are such a worry!!

Dcat has been with us 3 bonfire nights and she is more spooked this year than previous years!

Thankfully she doesn’t go out much so she is safe in her scratcher box but she seems miserable😢

VMor · 04/11/2023 19:53

My two cats are out too. No sign of them either. I've been shaking dreamies but no luck yet 😞

BIWI · 04/11/2023 19:54

He'll be hiding somewhere. Don't worry - he will come back when he feels it's safer.

MadeOfAllWork · 04/11/2023 20:03

I’m glad I kept my girl in. She complained but I’d sooner have her moaning than lost.

CrackleOfWinter · 04/11/2023 20:06

He’ll be hiding in a bush. Can you leave the back door open, if it’s not too cold, so he can make a mad dash for the house if he needs to?

Guiltyfeethavegotnorhythm0 · 04/11/2023 20:08

Can you not open a tin of smelly fish in your garden and leave it there ( I don't have cats)

rumred · 04/11/2023 20:12

Mine went off for a while yesterday (chased by friend's dog), then the fireworks started. I just kept calling her every half hour and she returned eventually. Rustling a cat treat packet and pushing the door handle up and down may have helped

LakeTiticaca · 04/11/2023 20:32

Probably hiding somewhere close by. My cat ran out last year, he came back after about 20 minutes, keeping himself low to the ground, and bolted back indoors

goingtohellinahandcart · 04/11/2023 20:40

He's back. I'm now eating my takeaway with a large glass of wine.

Good news that he's back albeit spooked .

Next week the fireworks could be worse as its Diwali on the 12th.
Last year my very nervous boy was disturbed by a loud ,close firework while he was doing his business in his tray . He legged it under the sofa like a thing posessed Let's just say it took a while for me to clean up all the skid marks and lumps of (thankfully solid) pooh !

goingtohellinahandcart · 04/11/2023 21:05

He was definitely spooked, now asleep on his blanket

She did Smile
I’m glad your boy came back too. They are such a worry!
Fireworks still going off tonight though.

goingtohellinahandcart · 07/11/2023 00:29

Glad to hear she came back, they can be a total nightmare at times. Didn't want to tell dd2 I'd lost her cat
