Things that irrationally annoy you

There is a speed check camera I pass on the way to the local shop , speed limit 30 mph

It tells you what speed your doing but even if you do 25 mph it still flashes up in bright red letters "SLOW DOWN " and it really annoys me ! I end up shouting at it every time I pass " I'm slowed down "!

I feel like I'm being told off even under the speed limit !

What minor irritations irrationally annoy you ?

I hate it when people I am talking to on the phone start talking to someone beside them without excusing themselves or asking if I can hold on a minute. They'll say something and I'll be thinking "eh!" before I realise they are talking to someone else, or go quiet and seem distracted, then start talking to someone else ('they' usually being my mum!). Grind my gears!

Number one on my list is the frequency with which this is posted as a topic on Mumsnet. It must be once a week at least.

Anything to do with hen dos and weddings!

I don't care if anyone calls me a kill joy or anti social. They are hands down the worst social events.

Luckily our last set of close friends got married last month and I'm able to say no to all future occasions!

It's never personal but they're just always shit. No matter how much money is spent. Forced fun!!

Eating/breathing noises.

My neighbour letting off an industrial load of loud fireworks for the last 2 hours straight (not an exaggeration).

We live in a small housing street. My front garden is now littered with tiny bits of cardboard.

I don't mind people setting off a few, they've just completely taken the piss.

Occasionally, I buy iceberg lettuce from Waitrose. They are wrapped in plastic (pretty annoying in itself) but the way the plastic is twisted and swirled around into a tight little disk at the base of the lettuce both repels me and fills me with fury. Not sure why.

People at work who say "I wonder who that can be" when the phone rings.

Me: "Anyone with a fucking telephone"

People who walk in front of you when you’re looking at something in a shop and they don’t say “excuse me”. It’s SO rude!

Fizzadora · 04/11/2023 20:18

People who automatically believe headlines in the media if they reinforce their beliefs then come on to MN ranting about it without doing any fact or bias checking.

My DH does it all the time (well he doesn't come on to MN but he rants to me about something every day).

His latest is Saddiq Khan (sp) and the ULEZ charge. I pointed out that he has not been to London or anywhere near it for at least 6 years and is very unlikely to do so in the future. He went on to rant that 'they' are introducing it in other places. I pointed out that he has barely left the house since his first heart attack 12 months ago and it will not affect him. He had the good grace to shut the fuck up.

puerto rico charity GIF by Closer Than They Appear

Amazon and inappropriate packaging. Ordered a trio of mini Bailey's bottles from Amazon. Arrived yesterday in a large rectangular box, opened it up there was another large rectangular box inside with my small box of Bailey's miniatures!!!!!!

People who park near junction (especially on our street) and people who park on the street while their spacious front drive stays empty.
people who wear too much perfume
people who take their dogs into shops
shop assistants who try to take mobile phone off you while doing refund
people who don’t take shoes off in your house
Our local MP’s team who usually do leafleting on our street around 5am ( it was 4.25 am today I’m not joking)
People in pairs who take up the whole pavement
Parents who allow their lower primary age DC to run far ahead along the narrow pavement near busy street on school run while they (parents) slowly walk somewhere behind.

I’ve got a few more but have to go now.
Can you tell that I’m deeply peri menopausal?

When people who don't know me say "You'll LOVE IT!" to me.
