Most similar tasting cola to diet coke

For ethical reasons related to the current conflict I have decided to boycott Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi (and other products by those companies). I drink a lot of Diet Coke and am wondering if anyone can suggest a good substitute? I have tried Aldi own brand and was hugely disappointed.

Happy to try store brands or even an alternative (low calorie) fizzy drink which might hit the spot. Thank you

I found Lidl Freeway Diet Coke was really nice and switched to that. Saved me a fortune. I wasn't too keen on Aldi or Tesco's own brand

Honestly I wouldn't bother. Even though you're well meaning (I assume), you boycotting a huge company or product isn't going to make any difference at all. They will continue to prosper regardless. Concentrate your efforts on fundraising or donating to the causes you actively want to support, that'll have a much greater impact.

Thank you, unfortunately there isn’t a Lidl very close to me, there is one a 20 minute drive away and I might end up doing that and bulk buy if I can’t find one nearer that does it for me!

Aldi offer two dupes of diet cola.

The blue label one is dreadful - far too sweet in our opinion.
However, we love the grey label.one, (can tell very little difference from the real thing.). Definitely worth trying if it was the blue label one you tried.

Freeway from Lidl we find too sweet too.

Oh I didn’t notice that, I’ll check thanks

I agree it’s not going to make any difference to them but to me knowing that my money is going towards the army that’s killing children (Pepsi) or the land grab/occupation (Coke) just feels wrong.

Can you get Barr Cola where you are? Its the Scottish brand that make Irn Bru.

notsoready4school · 04/11/2023 19:03

it seems to be available in Tesco and also online. Is the diet version of Barr cola also good or can you only really recommend the normal one?
