Can anyone remember this kids show?

I'm thinking late 70s early 80s.

All I can remember is that it was usually a man who'd sit in a forest setting on possibly a toadstool against a tree stump and the stump was magnetic and he'd create a picture out of magnets and from that a story....

This has been bugging me for years...
Can anyone else remember this?

Yes, Once upon a Time. Used to be on at lunchtimes. Mark Wynter took over from Peter Davison (or did it before him, one of the other!).
