Ugh. I have two mouth ulcers

And they are REALLY sore. I've just finished nights so it isn't surprising. I've put TCP/bonjella/anbusol/orobase on. Still really sore.

If you have any magical cures please pass them on!

Luke warm salt water mouth rinse 4 times a day x

mamaduckbone · 04/11/2023 13:14

Corsodyl mouthwash. It's anti-bacterial and works a treat.

Grumplechops · 04/11/2023 13:17

second corsodyl. Really effective

You can usually get own brand Corsodyl which is identical but cheaper - I recommend you get the mint flavoured one. Its a bit strong. If you can't get that, go for Listerine gum health.

kitchenhelprequired · 04/11/2023 13:21

Take loads of B12

ohsuzannah · 04/11/2023 16:27

I second the salt water, it's the only thing that works for me!

Ladypugs60 · 04/11/2023 16:31

Start taking the supplement Lysine as soon as you can feel the mouth ulcers starting, they are brilliant for killing them off.

Rubyupbeat · 04/11/2023 17:59

B12
Corsodyl gel

Violetparis · 04/11/2023 18:01

Dip your finger in some salt and then put it on the ulcers, stings like hell initially but gets rid of them quickly.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 04/11/2023 21:03

Corsodyl toothpaste (gel?) applied directly really helps.

LynnThese4reSEXPEOPLE · 04/11/2023 21:49

Oh Mumsnet. I went on Amazon. I bought the toothpaste... And some coloured conditioner... And cuticle scissors... And DS2s birthday presents. I blame you all, you wonderful ladies!

I have been known in my teenage years, not recommended, when I got lots of mouth ulcers to cut into them with a knife or nail scissors. Not really recommended. I think you can ice them with an ice cube maybe?

Blimey - that's hardcore! Did it make them go away?

aLittleWhiteHorse · 05/11/2023 00:10

Try oil pulling with cocoanut oil - I find it really takes the sting away and promotes healing

AlltheFs · 05/11/2023 00:20

I dip my finger in salt and then dab on. Hurts like hell but also numbs. Alcohol makes you forget.

Changedname23 · 05/11/2023 00:26

Chewing gum eases the pain

DirectionToPerfection · 05/11/2023 00:44

For prevention in future try the Lidl sensitive toothpaste. Totally sorted mine out.

Itslookinglikeabeautifulday · 05/11/2023 01:00

Urgo Filmogel for mouth ulcers, available from Amazon (£13.46). Paint it over the ulcer and it creates a barrier, aiding healing and alleviating pain (tho can smart a bit when first applied). Honestly it's fantastic, and in my experience, far better than anything else on the market.

choccychocchoc · 05/11/2023 02:28

I used to get horrendous mouth ulcers and would generally bite them to pop them. I don't know if it actually helped heal them but it did psychologically. Then I started to get B12 injections and I've never had one since (also a shift worker who works nights).

VeganFromSveden · 05/11/2023 02:42

I agree with a pp... oil pulling with coconut oil did wonders for when I (unusually) developed one.
Even after one oil pull it calmed down. By day three it was gone.
Good luck op

Birchvalley · 05/11/2023 08:25

Zero alcohol listerine every hour got rid of mine.
