Should I receive something from Tesco for the fact my shop didn't arrive last night?!

Booked a slot withbtewco 6-10. Got a txt saying it would come 6-7.
Never showed up. Never got a call or txt

I messaged the Tesco WhatsApp last night but it was too late for a response. Woke this morning to a message saying the driver had run out of time but they could deliver this morning

I said yes to that but I also told them the driver hadn't even called or txt us to let us know it wasn't coming! So they then replied to say they have told the store management and will be addressed to the drivers so that doesn't happen again - and that's it!

I kinda expected then to offer a £5 voucher or something for poor customer service - what would you expect?!

My shopping.

I would want them to confirm the food had been stored at the optimum level over night

Blossomandblooms · 04/11/2023 09:31

I wouldn't accept the delivery if perishables had not been stored correctly overnight. You should get some sort of compensation; once, I was delivered a torn cereal box and a cracked egg and I had those items refunded.

I got a £20 voucher when I had a no show with Ocado. Huge pain the arse but made it slightly better. I didn’t have to push for it either.

I’d not blame the driver for a start. It can’t be helped if he or she runs out of time. It’s illegal to keep going. It should have been the store or someone from online texting or calling. Are drivers even given a way of contacting customers anyway? I’d never use my own mobile for this purpose. Too many ways of appointing blame and it going wrong.

I would expect delivery costs to be refunded or May be my saver for the month refunded and all fresh food re-picked and delivered at a time today to suit me.

Phone up and complain. Ask for some sort of goodwill gesture. It's not good enough, you might need to go
Elsewhere...

Yes they have phones and our numbers to contact us. They could have called anywhere between 6-10 and didn't.

I am a Tesco driver so can probably help on this. The food will have been refrigerated on the van and then transferred back to the store fridge on return to the store so don't worry about that. The driver will have sent a message to our customer service centre which SHOULD trigger an email.aent to any missed customers. But, as with any system it's not foolproof. If you call the customer contact centre (number on the bottom of your email receipt) they will probably do something for you. Go easy on the driver, it's a very hard job when the weather is not great.

I had similar with Morrisons, and they gave me a £10 voucher without asking, plus a new delivery slot of my choice for free (I get a midweek delivery pass, and the next day was a Friday so would have been chargeable).

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 04/11/2023 09:42

It's not really about the driver more about the fact I just didn't get my shopping when Tesco agreed a slot that I would. And then now we are inconvenienced to have to wait to get it this morning they offered nothing as compensation
It just seems like they don't care much we didn't get it. Have arranged it for delivery so now we should be happy with them? No.

This happened to me once with Waitrose years ago. My boiler was broken so I was staying with my Mum until it was fixed the next day because it was the middle of winter and absolutely freezing for small DC in particular. I had a pre-booked Waitrose delivery due so I stayed in the freezing house waiting for it so I could put it away then go back to my Mum’s. It never showed up. Called them up and they said the driver got lost so gave up… They sent me a £25 John Lewis voucher so I was fairly satisfied.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 04/11/2023 09:54

Wow @Sartre that would've been so frustrating!
