My son offered me one of the packets of sweets from his Hallowe'en collection bucket tonight.
I opened a packet of Milky Bar buttons and thought they tasted a bit funny.
On checking, the best before date is September 2019! They are FIVE years out-of-date! 🤮
Who keeps mini packets of sweets at the back of their cupboard for 5 years??
Please undertake a quality control of the sweets your kids were given.

@Bertiesmum3

I did that once and was publicly shamed. Well I would have been if I’d owned up to that tin of cannellini beans.

DyslexicPoster · 03/11/2023 22:18

Who let's chocolate go off?

Ragwort · 03/11/2023 22:22

@Bertiesmum3 Totally agree re the Harvest Donations ... I volunteer at a FB and we have to check every single donation ... seriously please just don't bother if you are only going to give a tin from the back of your cupboard that's years out of date ... or the endless packs of pulses from Gousto and Hello Fresh that no one ever seems to use Grin

How do people not eat Milkybar buttons for four years? Don’t they know they are delicious??

I went through 2 tins of sweets BEFORE Halloween.

I find it totally beyond belief that anyone can keep sweets for longer than 5 minutes.

I need to lie down now.

Go begging 🤷‍♀️

It's a bit of fun for them ye ol' miser.

Doingmybest12 · 03/11/2023 22:34

People are odd, it's not ok to pass on sweets 4 years out of date. If you don't want to be involved , don't do it.

AlwaysPrettyOnTheInside · 03/11/2023 22:47

It's not out of date. Its past it's best before 🙄

Parents, as they should, go to great lengths to protect their children 364 days a year then one day the take leave of their senses and send them to strangers houses to ask for sweets or money. Totally mad!

I agree with this. I only used to let my kids knock on the neighbours' door and one other in the street. No going to random strangers. And I always checked the stuff they got. Most of the fun was loads of kids wandering about dressed up in the dark.

OP, what happened is fully within a foreseeable situation.

coxesorangepippin · 03/11/2023 23:01

Not the best

merryhouse · 03/11/2023 23:02

How?

How?

How can this happen?

I mean, I can only assume those buttons were the victim of some sort of time slip, because otherwise it makes no sense. Chocolate in the house for FOUR WHOLE YEARS?
