Swimwear for us hairy ladies!

I've hit a point in my life where I just don't have the time or the will to remove excess pubic hair before swimming (or at all generally!). I have dark hair and genetics means I'm fairly hairy, my pubic hair grows at least an inch down from the swimwear line so if I don't shave - it's obvious. To me anyway. I do trim from time to time, but its still visible unless I shave or wax etc which I'm trying to avoid and I'd just love to go swimming and not have to worry at all about what state I'm in!

Does anyone have any recommendations for swimwear that will cover my upper legs/pelvic area and not look too naff? I'm thinking along the lines of boyshort style bottoms but in a suit rather than bikini (my tummy is also shot since kids).

Thanks!

I've bought https://www.amazon.co.uk/AOQUSSQOA-Floral-Halter-Tankini-Swimsuit/dp/B08S3D1QYV

They do the job and make going for a wee once you're be-costumed easy. Much prefer them to an all in one swimsuit.

(Sorry formatting for links on MN doesn't seem to be working as usual 😬)

I just put a swim skirt over my swimwear. Got mine from asos and it’s great

Any links to websites? I've googled but struggling to see anything, except some very utilitarian boring legsuits in Sports Direct which isn't really what I'm after.

Was hoping for something a bit more feminine - but may be looking for the impossible!

Bon prix (swimwear365) tankinis great selection of swim shorts in different lengths.

It's been a while since I bought a swimsuit, and I'm gobsmacked by the advent of swim tops and swim shorts!! As an older fattie, these will make a world of difference to my swimming! Thank you so much for this thread.

I've got Amazon prime so am going to try out a few to start with including this beauty https://amzn.eu/d/c7A3x1F

Next stop - Lands End.

Thanks all, also nice to know I'm not alone in the body consciousness!

Apologies, thought it was a set and the shorts are out of stock. They do have others though.

Badatthis · 03/11/2023 18:30

I wear a swim suit and then board shorts over the top. Animal and oneil do surfer style ones so I can pretend to be a cool surfer (albeit a bit fat and middle aged)

Totaly · 03/11/2023 18:31

Shein do swim dresses and ones with shorts under

Slazenger Boyleg Swimsuits are good 😋

Notquitegrownup2 · 03/11/2023 18:37

Placemarking - love the one you've chosen! I'll be looking for that later too.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 03/11/2023 19:03

@EmmaDilemma5 the one you’ve chosen on amazon is in my wish list for when one of mine gives up.

I came on to recommend lands end but see someone has beaten me to it. I have serval pairs of swim shorts from them that I pair with a tankini or bikini top. I think they do two lengths but the sorter length stop me needing to worry about any sort of de fuzzing operation.

LifeofBrienne decathlon definitely have shorts style swimming bottoms but I can't remember if they have tankini tops as I buy bikini tops and shorts.

Greengagesummer65 · 03/11/2023 19:37

Am exactly the same op. Have gone back to swimming after many years, am finding it very soothing after some dire life events. I used to be put off by all the ‘preparation’ too but at 58 I don’t give a toss. My legs will just get furrier as the winter progresses but I don’t think they’ll throw me out, and I just wear a fairly basic boyleg costume. Would like something a bit nicer, even vintage looking but there seems nothing, just tiny high leg nonsense. It’s very boring.
