How do you use your iPad? Can you use it on your lap?

I'm thinking of getting an iPad. I'd like something to watch TV, surf the web, etc. I'd like to use it while sat on the sofa but can't imagine how it works - isn't it too heavy to hold? Do you have to have your legs up to rest it on? Is it in case with a keyboard?

And would you recommend the mini or full-sized?

I have a case on mine with a little flap at the back which acts as a stand if that makes sense

You can have them with just. Stand or with a case that has a built in stand and keyboard

Thank you! @mapff , @weathervane1 do you have the full sized one (I think the screen is 10 inches?) or the mini?

I don’t know whether they still do them and I can’t remember where from, but DH bought me something called a Pillow Pad, which rests on your lap. Saves holding the iPad which does get tiring after a while.

@Bluevelvetsofa those look fantastic - thanks!

Oh good, they still do them. You can use it several different ways and it’s useful if you’re in bed too!

I only ever use mine in bed, for watching TV. I have a stand for it.

OP I'm not sure if it the same as a modern full size one as it is one of the earliest models but it is about 10 - 11 inches across diagonally. It weighs very little though and not at all heavy, even with the case.

I've got a cheap clip on keyboard from Amazon (not Apple branded), it keeps the ipad upright and I don't have to use the onscreen keyboard.
