As in the title really! Would be grateful for any experiences. I’m keen to minimise time off work. Thank you.

How long will your GP sign you off for?

QuickHealthNC · 03/11/2023 08:09

I have no idea, probably ‘as long as I want,’ which isn’t really what I need.

I meant to ask in my OP, if you have had this procedure, what is the minimum length of time you needed off work? My phone call with the consultant lasted all of two minutes so I wasn’t able to ask him.

No they will tell you the amount they will sign you off for

and then if you need more, you go back for an extension

Yes, I understand that process, thank you.

What I’m hoping to find out is how long people’s recovery has been after having a banding procedure for piles. I need the procedure to have as little impact on my work as possible, and so knowing what the recovery time will be, will assist me in knowing when to schedule the procedure for.

I had this done in 2007. The first night was agony, really painful, but I was OK by the next day, with painkillers.

I would probably say a day after, in case you are in a lot of pain, but really, by the next day I felt much better, but was tired from not sleeping due to pain.

My husband had his done on Friday and was at work on Monday. He was uncomfortable on the Saturday and Sunday, but took paracetamol which helped a lot.
