Dear god I feel awful. It came on around 11pm and before that I thought I had period cramps.
I was really explosively sick multiple times along with diarrhoea.
Went to bed, didn’t sleep due to stomach cramping, just been up again with symptoms.
I’m definitely not going to work tomorrow, I’m going to phone in sick. I’m at the point where I’ve vomited so many times there’s nothing left to give.
Sorry bit of a pointless thread but everyone is asleep and I’m feeling so awful and alone right now!

I'm actually feeling a little bit human, I've had some toast and another dioralyte and a shower.
I've been up and about, but am back in bed for a bit.
Feel a bit washed out, but much improved from yesterday.
Hope everyone else feels OK.

@Thereshegoesagain glad to hear you’re feeling more human and have managed some toast!!
I felt more human too this morning, and decided to chance having instant noodles for lunch (starving and craving them), was a mistake, I was straight back to the toilet repeatedly. In hindsight I really should’ve chosen something more plain.

I’m getting a little concerned now though.. this is day 3 of no proper meal and I’ve not vomited since Friday morning but the diarrhoea isn’t easing up at all, so I generally feel very weak and rubbish still. I’m worried it’s something more serious than norovirus!! I do tend to worry a bit about health things. And then I worry about letting my work down by not going in tomorrow!

Can last up to a week .Call your GP if diarrhoea lasts more than a week or there is blood. If not it's pretty normal.Horrible and you still been to be off 48hrs after it ends so a call to your GP so that's on record for work might be an idea.

lovelyjubbly888 · 05/11/2023 18:27

@Chrispackhamspoodle Thank you very much, I just worry about being off work as I hardly ever phone in sick! Will see how I am tomorrow and re-assess 😞

Can I be a complete pain and bring this up again?
On googling it does say that the diarrhoea could last for weeks after the initial illness.. so how do I know when to go from the 48hrs, if that makes sense?
If I was going from my last vomit, I’d be ‘fine’ going back tomorrow. But if I go from last diarrhoea, I won’t be ‘fine’ until Wednesday.
I just find it quite confusing and am v anxious about taking time off!

You really should stay off if you're still having diarrhoea. It's very contagious (as we've found out - I'm 3rd in the family to get it, each time 5 days apart).
I'm debating going in tomorrow.
Although I can, I haven't eaten anything except toast and I've just pottered today. If I go in tomorrow, I'll probably flake by 2pm....
I'm going to see how I go.
Don't go in, for a start, noone will thank you if you pass it on.
Hope you feel better soon.

OP I was literally just like this. To the point where I rung the GP (haven't had a drs appointment for years before this) and eventually it did stop after about 5 days. I just stuck to bland foods and did my best. I was hungry, but it was just the pains that put me off eating! I literally laid on the sofa watching rubbish tv with a hot water bottle on my belly and took paracetamol for the tummy ache and generally fluey aches and pains which did help.

Don't worry about work, it's not your fault! I'm the same as you, feel so guilty ringing in sick and this was the first episode for which I'd had time off in years! But it had to be done. Would hate to go to work and pass it on to anyone else. I actually think I got it from work in the first place. And plus, imagine going to work and trying to get through the day with tummy ache and diarrhoea, I can't think of anything worse! You need to be at home taking it easy getting yourself better Smile

Hope you have an improvement soon!
